Who we are
Sumac (sumac.hubium.app and its Android app) is a cooking site by Hubium, based in Uruguay: a measurement converter, a cooking encyclopedia, a community recipe box and a cooking academy. By using it you accept these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
Using the site
The converter, the guides, public recipes and lessons are free and need no account. Amounts, conversions, temperatures, times, prices and calories are approximate: use them as a guide and always check what you cook. Take special care with food safety (cooking meat, preserving, allergens and gluten).
The academy teaches cooking and does not award official degrees. Nutrition lessons are general and do not replace advice from a doctor or dietitian.
Your account
You need an account to save recipes, comment or track your progress. You must be at least 13 (or the age required by law where you live). Keep your password safe: you are responsible for what happens with your account. You can delete your account at any time, together with your recipes, comments and data.
What you post
The recipes, photos and comments you post remain yours. By making them public you let us show them on Sumac, adapt them to the site (for example, scaling amounts or making a PDF) and let other people see and save them.
Do not post:
- offensive, violent, sexual or discriminatory content, or content that harasses others;
- spam, advertising or misleading links;
- recipes, photos or text copied from others without permission (recipes imported from other sites are for your personal use: don't publish them as your own);
- dangerous recipes or advice that could harm someone's health;
- other people's personal data.
Reports, blocking and moderation
You can report a recipe or comment that breaks these rules, and block someone so you no longer see what they post. Moderators review reports and may hide or delete content and suspend accounts that break these terms, without notice in serious cases. If you think we removed something by mistake, write to us.
Coins and plans
Coins pay for features that use artificial intelligence or read other websites: recipe from photos, importing a link and the index of the My recipes PDF. Everything else is free. Coins are not money, can't be exchanged for money or transferred, and don't expire while you keep your account; if you delete it, they are lost.
Plans (see plans and prices) are monthly subscriptions charged through Mercado Pago until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account: the plan lasts until the end of the paid month. If a charge went wrong, write to us and we'll look into it. Coins and plans are not sold in the Android app.
Our content
Sumac's texts, lessons, guides, drawings and design are ours. You may use them to cook and share links to them, but not copy them to publish elsewhere. Some pages show ads (see the privacy policy).
Liability
We do our best to keep the site working and the information correct, but it is provided "as is": it may contain mistakes or be unavailable for a while. We are not responsible for results in the kitchen, damage or loss from using the site's information, or for what other people post.
Changes and governing law
We may change these terms; the date above shows the latest version, and we will announce important changes on the site. These terms are governed by the laws of Uruguay.
